Gov. Heineman Comments on Death Penalty Repeal Bill

Gov. Dave Heineman today released the following comment after the Legislature failed to advance LB 1063, which would have repealed the death penalty in Nebraska:

"I agree with the outcome of today's vote. Members of the Legislature have spoken clearly that the death penalty will continue in our state. Senators had a very thorough discussion of the issue and I believe it is now time to move forward.

"Our focus now should be on deciding a legal method of execution for Nebraska. I support lethal injection as that method.
